The Most Beautiful Boy in the World

Director Luchino Visconti struggled to find the perfect child actor for his next film, Death in Venice. He found Björn Andresen and at the world premiere, Visconti proclaimed his star Björn as “the world’s most beautiful boy”. A shadow that today, 50 years later, weighs Björn’s life. This is a tragic documentary that addresses the film industry’s exploitation of child actors. Björn had an unknown father, lost his mother at a young age and was raised by his grandmother. This tearful film uses a lot of archive material and film from Björn’s life today. It will make you think of today’s young movie stars, and hope they have caring people around them. Something that Björn did not have.
