The Exception

The Danish thriller The Exception is based on Christian Jungersen’s bestseller about four colleagues who sink further and further into a macabre power game. We follow Iben and Malene, who together with two other women work at the Danish Center for Information on genocide. Iben has been exposed to a traumatic experience, and Malene is struggling with severe arthritis. However, these problems become insignificant when they both begin to receive extremely unpleasant death threats. If there is one thing work has taught them, it is that everyone is capable of murder. Jesper W. Nielsen’s film adaptation is a nerve-wracking thriller that explores how refined bullying from adults can develop into a game of life and death.
