Red Soil

César winner Zita Hanrot, known from Love, Death & Robots on Netflix among other things, takes on the role of the nurse Nour. She is a new employee at her father’s chemical factory in the south of France after she was fired from her job in the ER. Her father (played by Sami Bouajila – also a César winner) has worked at the factory for over 30 years.

Here she begins to sense that something’s off. The authority pushes away the problems as it reveals secret agreements between the industry, politicians and syndicates to hide life-threatening working conditions from the public. In this eco-thriller, Nour must choose whether to expose the conspiracy or remain loyal to her father, highlighted by brilliant acting performances from them both. An absorbing and rewarding thriller!
