Out Stealing Horses

Trond is 67 years old, and recently has moved to a deserted place.  Winter is almost here, and he looks forward to New Year’s Eve, which he will celebrate all alone. He discovers a neighbour, a man he knew in the summer of 1948. That summer his father prepared for the big betrayed. But that summer Trond also grew up and felt the smell of a woman he wanted to be close to; the same woman his father wanted to share his life with her.

Out Stealing Horses is based on Per Petterson’s beloved novel by the same name, and won the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution for Rasmus Videbæk’s cinematography at the 2019 Berlinale. It is nominated for 10 Amanda Awards in 2019.
