Nordic Council Film Prize: Finnish nominee

This film takes us to a refugee center in Finland. Here we get to know Bahman, Mahtab, Ramin and Donya Mehdipour – a family from Iran. While the 13-year-old Ramin enjoys the school holidays, the family gets an unfortunate answer about their asylum application. The family strives to have a normal everyday life and maintain a positive attitude despite the threatening danger of deportation. The family uses their last chance to hold appeals, but they continue living life as it should be, driven by their exceptionally positive views and attitudes. Especially for the 13-year-old Ramin who is about to start middle school, where every moment will be more valuable than ever. The film is based on the director’s own experiences, after fleeing the Middle East and settling in Finland.
