Five years after the shooting started, the Icelandic Alma is complete. This is the last film with the award-winning Emmanuelle Riva, who died in 2017.

The result is an icy and engaging work. Here we are introduced to three-year-old Alma, who comes to Iceland with her mother after fleeing a war-torn country. Now, 25 years later, Alma is in a psychiatric ward for murdering her boyfriend. A crime she cannot remember. But when she discovers that her boyfriend is still alive, Alma decides to escape and kill him. We get to know the shy, mysterious and brutal side of Alma. Her complex nature opens up for cosmic sensory impressions and invites us to an enchanting journey in sterile rooms and beautiful natural images.
