A Perfectly Normal Family

Emma (11) har a perfectly normal family until one day it turns out her dad, Thomas, is transgender. As Thomas becomes Agnethe both father and daughter struggle to hold on to what they had while accepting that everything has changed. The story is based on the director’s own childhood, where her father changed his gender, and with this personal base the film has become a heartwarming reflection on the core family and the concept of normality. Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (known from A Royal Affair) plays the father and does an impressive transformation from man to woman.
